Michael Cinco Spring 2011
I received several inquiries after my post on Michael Cinco’s gowns, and most were about the price range of his gowns. The price for his gowns range between $13500-$17700+ there is a lot of work that goes into these dresses and its no wonder they cost as much as they do. Here is his Spring 2011 bridal collection, which were posted on his facebook page.
Michael Cinco is based in Dubai, for more information on his bridal gowns you can contact them: 0971-4-3328488

To Have and To Hold
I appreciate Marchesa’s boldness in style, their designs are always unique with lots of detailing, their Spring 2011 handbag collection serves as a continuation of their aesthetic and love of details. I love their evening clutches, they do combine both the simplicity of feminine designs, with the opulence of stones and handcrafted details, it serves as the perfect accessory for your night out look.
Here are my picks from the Spring 2011 collection as well as the bridal collection:

Surprise Baby Shower!
I posted yesterday that I made my “YSL” inspired cupcakes and I wanted to wait until the baby shower was over to post why I made them hehe I wanted to keep it a surprise after all
my sister threw our cousin a surprise baby shower and she wanted it to be like a tea party. We ended up going from tea party, to a Prêt-à-Porter tea party, we got the designers tea bags, and my sister decided to get roses from Dean & Deluca and arrange them in tea pots, we also had a punch bowl with ice cubes made from rose syrup and petals. I made the rose-water YSL cupcakes, and because the mommy is on a Gluten Free diet, the majority of the food was gluten free.
Here are pics of the shower
Red velvet cake from Madame Sucre :)
Pink lemonade with rose syrup and rose petal ice cubes
And of course, a shower cannot be a shower without the best sugar cookies by Jenjen’s Cookies

and last, but not least…Karl tea bags!

YSL Inspired Cupcakes
Ever since The Pop-up Shop, held a competition for designer sweets I wondered what I would create that is designer inspired (even though I do not own a bakery nor would have joined the competition
) I’ll tell you more about the occasion I made these for soon, but for now I just want to share with you the cupcakes I made inspired by the YSL rings. I used 23 carat gold leaves and edible jewels to decorate the rose-water and cream cheese cupcakes, with gold cupcake liners, what do you guys think?

Just Shoot Me!
Do you ever get this orgasmic thrill when you spot THE perfect dress and then realize you have no occasion for it?
I was shopping at RedValentino today and had to check all the websites that carry the Valentino collections to make sure that I am not missing out on anything, only to find the classiest little black dress, oh it hurts! I so want this, unfortunately I already have a cocktail dress by Roland Mouret that I have yet to wear, damn it I need to find an occasion to get this for!!
But since I’m not purchasing this dress any time soon, I began to piece together accessories that I would like to wear with, some I own, and others I don’t mind getting
I guess for now, I can only day dream of wearing it boo-hoo
1- Christian Louboutin 2- Oscar de la Renta tassel bead earrings 3- Rose-shoulder dress by Valentino 4- Pearl & diamond earrings by Tiffany & Co. 5- Anemone pumps by Christian Louboutin (personal purchase) 6- Pearl tassel bead earrings by ODLR (personal purchase) 7- Nail color “Scarlett O’ hara” by Essie 8- Rose-shoulder dress by Valentino

Semi-homemade Rosewater Cake With Pistachio Cream
We were invited over for dinner at our friend’s last night, I actually had one of the best taboolas and waraq 3anab over there *drool* but anyway I made a rosewater flavored sponge cake, with a layer of pistachio cream in between. I wanted to share with you guys the easy steps to making what turned out to be a good cake! hehe here is an other version I made but with ice cream.
Here is what you need:
You can use any white cake mix, but I personally prefer Pillsbury or Betty Crocker. Follow the directions on the back of the box, but when its time to add the one cup of water that is required, add two bottle caps full of rose syrup in the cup of water and then into the mix, then add two bottle caps of rosewater to the entire mix (you will still need the rosewater so keep that in hand for after baking the cake).
Meanwhile spray your non stick pans (two round pans) with bake easy, even though they are non-stick I still prefer using the bake easy spray because with a cake like this, you need it to really pop out of the pan in one piece as you will be flipping it over the other.
After the cake bakes, let it cool while you prepare the pistachio cream…

add crushed pistachio and halves to your whipped cream, I also added 2 tspoons of pistachio cream I got from Eataly NYC which has the same texture of peanut butter and also a bottle cap full of rosewater
After the cake cools, lightly sprinkle the cake with one more bottle cap full of rosewater (trust me the flavor will not be overwhelming at all)

Get fresh roses/petals lightly wash them and dry them out then arrange them around the entire cake for garnishing

Dauphines of New York Hair Accessories
I was contacted few weeks ago by the people from Dauphines of New York to let me know of their new collections, I was thrilled I am always on the look out for new brands for accessories. What’s neat about their hair accessories is that they can be worn as necklaces as well, so thats a bit of a bang for your buck right there, and they have a wide range of collections, some are made from Liberty of London prints, and of course they have a bridal collection as well. Their hair accessories have been a hit with celebrities, and have been mentioned in magazines such as Allure, People and Elle, they are sold at places such as Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel (my havens in NYC) you can also find them online at shopbop.com, AND you can purchase these hair gems right here in Kuwait at Melange in 360
Here are my favorite from their collections:

Summer Shimmer: Product Reviews
Summer is finally here!! People keep complaining that it’s getting too hot in Kuwait, but for me I’m loving the heat!! I love everything that is related to the summer, flip-flops, cotton dresses, tanning and the sizzling hot sun…aaah amazing, one thing I do not like though is applying the white pasty sunblock on my skin, especially back then when I was working and rushing out of the house slathering on that sunblock, only to find out later that there are white streaks on my pasty legs lol which brings me to my current favorite sunblock by Hawaiian Tropic Shimmer Effect sunblock SPF 20, it’s not pasty white and does not have the smell of chemicals most sunblock have. When you put it on, it leaves a faint shimmer on the skin I love it! One thing I have to add is that, even though the shimmer is very faint on the skin, it may rub off on your bag, so just like any lotion, watch out while carrying an expensive bag cause it may end up staining your bag.
As for my other current summer favorite, has to be the RCK body glow its a moisturizer with a bronzy shimmer and yes there are so many products that enhance your tan with a bronzy shimmer but again most don’t stay on the skin and rub off on your clothes, furniture and so on, but with the RCK body glow, it stayed on my skin and did not rub off on my white tshirt nor anywhere else so I’m loving the fact that this is not going anywhere else other than on my skin!
What’s your favorite thing about the summer time?

Sara D.
