“AlSa7er wal Bent AlJameela” Oh My!
Ok, I guess since this is a Halloween weekend, I can write this post because it will be horrifying on so many levels (for myself that is) LOL inspired by Danderma’s post on AlMaktaba AlKhathra, or was it “Alselsela AlKhathra?” I decided to write my post on my childhood experience with reading these fairy tales.
First of all, I spent 3rd grade in California during the invasion and when we came back to Kuwait I had kinda forgotten my Arabic. My teachers advised my mother to encourage me to read more Arabic books, because at that time I was already hooked on The BabySitter’s Club! And I desperately wanted to be just like Ann M Martin and be a writer lol So when my mom got me these fairytale books, I fell in love. I remember also being hooked on Mickey’s magazine, but I believe that came a bit later, so being the crafty kid that I was I wrote my own version of “AlMaktaba AlKhathra” series.
I made the book cover, came up with the story line, wrote it and did the illustration all by myself! I was probably 9 or 10 at that time. I still have this book, and I hope I get to save it for my children to see how silly their mother was lol And maybe laugh at how bad my Arabic was! But then again, I was a kid!!
Here is the storyline:
A young pretty poor girl lived with her father in a small town, the prince was interested in marrying her but there is an other man after her! The evil magician who wanted the girl to be his wife, so he decided to keep the prince from proposing to her by casting a spell on him and turning him into a skunk so no one would go near him even if he attempts to get help (he stinks you know
) and the girl was shrunken and placed in an hour-glass.
The prince had to save the girl in order to get her and keep her, but no one wants to talk to a skunk until one day he finds the gardener in his palace spraying the plants in the garden, to kill the insects. The gardener was wearing a mask, to avoid breathing in the fumes, so the skunk/prince was able to approach him. He asked him to help him break the spell by going to the magician’s library, they read the spell out loud and both the prince and the girl went back to normal. The prince marries the girl and gets rid of the magician and the town lives happily ever after lol
Well that’s pretty much it! LOL I must have had so much time on my hands as a kid lol What was your childhood like?

Here Comes the Bride! :D

I have great news, so thrilled and happy to announce that my friend is getting married!!!
Congratulations to the happy couple, wish you the best!
Funny thing is, she caught my bouquet on my wedding, and even though I really don’t believe in these things it is a great coincidence that she got married right after!
Good luck, and may your days be filled with joy and love always

McDonald’s Myth Busted By Husband :P
My husband read this article on Yahoo.com claiming that McDonald’s food does not decompose. They had a Happy Meal out for 6 months and nothing really happened to it. Intrigued, my husband wanted to find out for himself ….well what are you waiting for? Check out the results on his blog

Gold and Mauve Collage
I have prepared a new collage, inspired by Vera Wang’s wedding dress. The dress itself is bold, high-fashion, basically not your typical wedding gown. Wedding dresses do not have to be completely in white, many cultures actually celebrate their weddings by wearing red instead. I thought of pairing this dress with bold accessories, I have added many options that could go with the dress and not necessarily worn all at once *HOT MESS!!* lol but just to see the different ways to wear it.
1- Louis Mariette headband 2-Dior pumps 3- Oscar de la Rena earrings 4-Valentino shoes 5- Essie nail color in “it’s genius” 6- Jennifer Behr Lace Spider Web headband 7-Isharya earrings 8-Manalo Blahnik shoes 9- Essie nail color in “Island Hopping” 10- Jennifer Behrd crystal headband 11- Essie nail color in “Shifting Power” 12-Erickson Beamon earrings 13- Aurélie Bidermann cuffs 14- Essie nail color in “licorice” 15- Kenneth Jay Lane earrings 16- Roberto Cavalli pendant 17- Christian Louboutin shoes 18- Roberto Cavalli ring
About the dress: The dress is from Vera Wang’s Fall 2011 collection, in a ball gown silhouette.
1-ring pillow 2- wedding cake 3- Dark purple Calla Lillies 4- “Apollo” wall medallions 5- Zara Home wine glass 6- Wedding cake by Cake Alchemy 7- Zara Home cushion 8- ring pillow 9- Purple Orchids 10- Zara Home cushion 11- ”Flowering Lotus” Pendant Lights 12- table runner

The Knot Celebrates With a Bloom!
The bridal gown designer, Monique Lhuillier, worked with celebrity wedding planner Preston Bailey to create this magnificent dress made out of Calla Lilies, Roses, Orchids and much more! The dress was made to cap off the Bridal Fashion Week in NYC which showcased in New York Public Library, along with the bride, Bailey designed a his and hers poodles made out of flowers as well.

Oscar Bride Collage
Now I am aware that I am not a stylist nor a wedding planner, but I am a shopaholic so I love to create looks and piece items together and thought I’d share with you my passion. This will be my first of many collages that I will create, the focal point will obviously be the wedding dress and the accessories and wedding theme accents will revolve around the dress I choose.

Sweet Notes From Heaven
*sigh* now you all know how crazy I am about this designer lol Oscar de la Renta, sends his models down the runway for the Fall 2011 Bridal collection with looks no short of sweet perfection. I simply love the color palette he used for the bridal looks, soft baby blues, cotton candy pink, with snow whites, a mixture of ruffles and bows. I enjoy all his looks, and love how designers are introducing colors to the traditionally white dress. I know some brides are still hesitant to break the tradition but I hope we get to see more bolder brides saying their I do’s in a less than traditional dress.
Here are my favorite looks

My biggest worry on my wedding was to find a guest wearing the exact same dress but in a different color! Hehe Because Monique Lhuillier had the same concept in her bridal collection and runway looks! The same thing goes with Oscar de la Renta’s bridal collection, and normally guests at the wedding wouldn’t spend $8000 on an evening dress, but I know Kuwaiti guests would! lol but my wedding was a small affair so I knew people were not going to be in ball gowns
So I guess when you are purchasing the dress, make sure non of the guests would be wearing something similar just in a different color! *eek*

Spooky Nails
Hello people, there is a lot I want to post about but I haven’t had the time. Been crazy busy at school I’ve been feeling like a zombie lately, but enough about me. Have you decided what you’re going to be this Halloween? I know so many girls want to go as “Snooki” lol but for those who are leaning towards the gory freaky side of their nature, here are some spooky nail art videos that might be helpful. The girl uses a thin brush to do most of her work, her hand is very steady and she’s very talented. I think you maybe able to replicate these looks by using the Sally Hansen nail art pen, I am not a big fan of nail art…but for Halloween I don’t mind dressing up my tips!
Check’em out
and here are some more fun looks
