Christian Dior Fall 2010 Couture
Galliano does it again and again and again! This man is freakin genius!! And of course I would looove the whole collection this Fall, those who know me will know why
Nature was his inspiration for Fall 2010, and flowers bloomed literally bloomed all over the collection as the models walked down the runway with juxtaposition of flowers blooming and plastic wraps all put together to create the most freakin amazing effect. I cannot wait to see one of these dresses on the red carpet sooooon!! Hello calling miss. Charlize Theron?!!
Enjoy ….as I sing “you give me butterflies…got me flyin so high in the sky ….I can’t control the butterflies!”

A No Fly Zone wedding: Chelsea Clinton
Chelsea Clinton is getting married this Saturday, and although I never really admired her aesthetic in style (dull?) but her wedding is getting a lot of attention. Her wedding is believed to have cost $3M which again does not seem to be a staggering number for such a high profile personality, and of course her wedding location will be considered a no fly zone during that day. Her dress is said to be designed by non other than the goddess of bridal gowns, Vera Wang, she was caught wearing a floppy hat entering the bridal salon in what seems to be an updo and full makeup (final fitting?). The mother of the bride will be wearing Oscar de la Renta of course!
Here is a picture of her entering the bridal salon, Vera Wang. More updates later

Etsy: The Treasure Trove
Etsy.com has got to be the site that you can spend endless of hours on and never get bored, I picture this website as an old trunk hidden in someone’s attic and going over the items is too fun!
Once I picked out the color scheme for my wedding, I decided for my wedding i wanted to have tables instead and even though most of my relatives were against it (thankfully I am very stubborn
) I went ahead and searched endless hours on the internet looking for table runners (I cannot believe meanwhile I was reading like a zillion amount of books lol) and what I found was not helpful most sites offered rental or sold in wholesale. I have no idea why I did not think of Etsy sooner, as soon as I searched “table runners” I found the perfect ones! I quickly emailed them, since one mentioned she can make them in fuchsia but did not have pictures of, she sent me a sample of the fabric and once I approved of the color I asked her to make two sofa cushions for the “kosha’s” sofa as well.
I love that they have all these trinkets that somehow completes whatever look you are going for!
Here are some pics from the table runners that I ordered for my tables, and other random pictures that can be helpful for some brides!
)
And here are more stuff that might complete a bride’s look
Looove etsy!

The Blonds
Here is one for all of you trendy fashionistas! The platinum duo that have been rocking the runways, they have been sculpting the famous bods into perfection since 2008, yes I am talking about The Blonds of course!
The hard edgy look has been a favorite of celebrity pop artists and rock stars alike, including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Kylie Minogue, Kim Cattrall, and the infamous corset worn by Mylie Cyrus in her video.
Their muse is the woman’s body, and I love the fact that Philipe Blond used to watch Jem and the Holograms and She-ra the Princess of Power! Hehe so cool, my sister and I used to watch Jem and the Holograms when we were kids and even had their dolls! You can see his obsession with Jem and the Holograms in their older collections especially.
Personally the look all together is too S&M for my liking, but I wouldn’t mind combining the edgy look with a very classic item. From spiky edgy bustiers, to wild animal furs, very wild you will need a dog leash, here is some shots from the Fall 2010 and the rest are my favorites from older collections.
With that dress, you can leave your Mace at home
Older collection, some of my favorite looks
More celebrity following:
What is your favorite look from their collections? Would you wear any of their items?

Kleinfeld, NY
I have mentioned Kleinfeld before as being a good choice for brides, since they carry the largest inventory of wedding dresses. They have some exclusive designers that design specifically for Kleinfeld such as Pnina Tornia which seems to be a the favorite designer for most brides who visit the boutique. She seems to target the brides who are looking for more of a sexy flair to the dull bridal look, but personally find them too pageant like.
Kleinfeld started out 60 years ago, and has since then grown to be the famous boutique sought out by brides across the US. The staff are professional and can cater to all your bridal needs, of course to try the samples you must book an appointment ahead of time and the only time you get to try the samples without an appointment is during the blow out sale 70% off which is 5 days from now!!
Here are some shots of Kleinfeld and the gowns they carry, enjoy
I am sure most have seen the reality show that is taped @ Kleinfeld’s “Say Yes to the Dress” here is a youtube video of the show

Sara D.
P.S Kleinfeld is on 6th ave Manhattan, NY and the dress start from $1500 to $25000+
Spinalonga, Crete
My husband and I traveled to the beautiful island of Crete, Greece. We stayed in Elounda, I simply fell in love with the place! The weather was perfect all day long, the food was great! (not the hotel food though *ekh*) people were extremely nice I have yet to meet people as welcoming and friendly as the people in Crete.
So our guide was telling us about a movie he was in (bta3 kulo the guy is a bodyguard/taxi/guide/actor) the plot of the movie takes place on Spinalonga, a small island facing Plaka in Crete. He struggled to explain to us the story behind the island but what we got was plenty to get us intrigued to visit the island. He played the role of a husband who had to see his wife sent off to Spinalonga as she was diagnosed with leprosy (now known as Hansen’s disease, HD). I kept thinking of how torturing it must have been for the families of the suffer to see them off to an isolated island yet knowing that they are so close to them!
Plaka is like a 10 min boat ride away from Spinalonga, and you can clearly see the island. So after a long day at the beach we decided to walk to Plaka from Elounda (20 min walk, the roads are not pedestrian friendly but we felt like discovering the area by foot)
I found Plaka very charming, with small stores selling knick knacks and local restaurants over looking Spinalonga. I purchased the novel “The Island” by Victoria Hislop the novel tells the story of the leper colony in Spinalonga before we had lunch.
Then we purchased our tickets to get a boat ride to Spinalonga, we were at first the only couple waiting for the boat and then an other couple joined us later. By the time we reached the island, we realized it was only us and the couple visiting the island. Knowing that the last boat ride back to Plaka is in half an hour did not help either.
We walked around the island, alone and we did feel isolated from the world. Looking around, its easy to imagine the lives of people that occupied the island from 1903 to 1957 (very recent!) the good thing is that they did build a life on that island and not just there for their impending death.
The sad thing is that initially, people suffering from the disease were treated like savages, containing them in isolated island hoping that the disease would not spread out. Leprosy can only be contracted through close physical contact, and 95% of humans are immune but at some point the treatment for it was scarce and as the conditions worsen the people carrying the disease had symptoms such as: skin disfiguration, lose of sense in their limbs, and nerves. There are leper colonies across the world, and the largest population of sufferers are in India.
Reading “The Island” brings life to the lives spent in Spinalonga by the lepers at that time, although the book starts off weak when she delves into the story on the island that is when it becomes more intriguing. It makes our visit to the island more interesting

Longer Lasting Manicures!
Tired of your nail polish chipping the nano second you leave the nail spa?! Well yes indeedeedo I am!! I hate it and tried so many methods to make sure it doesn’t smudge or chip, but my nails always end up looking like the badly chipped pavements in streets lol A nail polish has been introduced to the market that promises a lasting manicure (how about that? More than two weeks!) it is the Gelish nail polish from Harmony. This only works on natural nails, applied like regular nail polish and cured by UV lamp. It will completley peel off when soaking for 15 minutes.
Love it! Has anyone tried it? How are the results?
This service is offered by local nail spas such as Nail It

Celebrity Weddings: Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood tied the knot last week to Mike Fisher, the idol star wore a Monique Lhuillier wedding gown. Her dress was big, just as she had announced, the bodice is sheer with a voluptuous skirt. She changed into an after party dress, which was also designed by Lhuilier, the idol star said she wanted to “get my boogie on” thus the second change.
Most brides are doing that now a days, changing into a simpler dress at night to continue the celebrations. I wonder if this trend will catch on in Kuwait? Should a bride change her dress for the after party? I personally was planning on doing that, but realized a bride gets to wear her dress only once in her life, might as well enjoy it!
Here is Carrie Underwood on her wedding day:

wearing her after party dress, designed by Monique Lhuillier
Although I normally go gaga over Monique Lhuillier’s dresses, this simply did not do it for me. It might be the sheer lace bodice, most brides are choosing this style, but I never really liked it.
Monique Lhuillier’s dresses are very dainty and romantic, she uses the most interesting fabrics, her dresses are truly timeless. She was years back one of my dream designers. I had once dreamt of wearing a wedding dress designed by her, even though I never wanted to have a wedding lol! But simply lovely! Here are some shots from her new Spring 2011 collection and older as well.
What do you think of Carrie’s dress? Hit or miss?
Luv,
Sara D.
