Finally the Day Has Come! :D

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:11 PM by inspirationsbysd

Thank you everyone who attended and for those who couldn’t make it thank you for your wishes, we had a blast and it was everything I had planned for :*

For those of you who were asking about the customized bobbleheads for the cake topper, I had it fully customized through Headbobble it was great dealing with them. I sent them head shots of both myself and my husband (mug shots) and pictures of my dress, as for the groom I did not have a picture of my husband in “deshdasha” and “besht” and because I wanted to keep it a surprise, I got random pictures from the internet of Kuwaiti male attire and we worked step by step to make sure they got it right. I think they did a great job, given the fact that they are not familiar with our groom’s attire.

Here are the pictures that I sent them first to customize our bobbleheads :)

Pictures of my dress :)

and here are the step by step updates they sent me to approve before they sent me the final product:

and the final result :D

Our personalized bobble heads :)

In My Purse

Posted in In My Purse at 10:20 PM by inspirationsbysd

My cousin got this for me, and I was a bit skeptic about the dark color until I found out it is crystal clear lipstick (yea she told me bs ma staw3abt :P ). I love how this lip balm looks like a lipstick but your lips feel instantly smooth and it gives your lips a sheer hue but nothing dramatic which is great I think this is a good option to carry in a purse instead of my usual beloved lip smackers lol this looks sophisticated at least :P

The picture I took does not show how transparent the lipstick is, so I got the second picture off the internet.

From Sabrina to Aurora

Posted in Wedding dress at 4:42 PM by inspirationsbysd

If you are anything like me (for your sake, I pray that you are not :P ) but anyway I am pretty sure I am not the only person who has been going gaga over Audrey Hepburn’s dress in “Sabrina”. The beautiful dress has been on almost every bride’s mind (or maybe just mine) my mom and I have been in love with this dress since the first time we saw her movie, it was designed by Givenchy and I love how it compliments her slender body with a pencil fitted skirt in the front, and at the back a huge peacock like tail with black embroidery.
Well if you would like to get married in a “Sabrina” inspired dress, look no further! This literally almost became my wedding dress I just fell in love with it because it is really the modern take of what Audrey Hepburn would wear. The Amsale dress “Aurora” is a powder pink dress with a crystal brooch, it falls below the knee in the front (perfect to show off them heels ;P) and then at the back is the long peacock tail that is just so effortlessly beautiful. The dress retails $5300 and the only turn off is that it is such a popular dress that almost everyone has worn it, which made it easier for me not to consider it.

Headpiece Options

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:22 PM by inspirationsbysd

I love the extra long cathedral lace veil, the detail on the lace is so beautiful highlighting the face of the bride and her dress, simply priceless! But, if you would like to add a modern twist to the bridal look there are great options to either attach to the veil or go sans veil and wear it alone.

Here are some of the looks from Jennifer Behr’s bridal collection, and a couple from her season collection.

This is the perfect alternative to a veil, the net provides the traditional look of a veil while the flowers balance things out so dainty and lovely.

This is so beautiful, looks like  something a Greek Goddess would wear *sigh*

And for the daring bride! hehe I loooove this, it also comes in black…super hot not necessarily as a bridal look but I am loving the combination of satin and hard edgy silver studs!

And if you are a little more daring, Philip Treacy’s hats are a true work of art.

Price range for the Jennifer Behr headbands start from $200 to $900 and Philip Treacy from $500 to $2000+

Oscar meets iPad

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:29 PM by inspirationsbysd

Oh Oscar, everything he touches turns into pure gold! Oscar de La Renta’s new Resort 2011 made its debut this week and the models walked down the runway modeling the new iPad cases designed by Oscar de La Renta! Lovely, I have not joined the iPad craze yet, but once I do I sure would love to get my hands on those cases, they come in 3 different colors but I am loving the red!

In My Purse

Posted in In My Purse at 11:40 PM by inspirationsbysd

I like the usual “In Her Bag” page at the end of the Marie Claire magazine, women tend to carry the most interesting things in their purses and I thought of sharing some of the stuff that I carry. I usually carry most stuff Mary Poppins would, only to fit my clutch and not her handbag :P

The latest product to enter the bottom of my purse/clutch is the Rub Relief by Dr.Scholl. You know how annoying it is to wear brand new shoes only to find out that you need to walk unexpected hours in them, cause your feet to blister and bubble? *ekh*Well this product helps avoid blisters! Even though I expected much more from this stick (no pun) I had in mind that it will create a waxy film on my foot to avoid blisters, but in fact it is more balmy and leaves a bit of a residue. I still carry it with me because it does the job anyway! I love it, and it is perfect for these unexpected long walks.

Luv,

Sara D.

P.S just don’t use it on satin or lamb skin…might stain

Preserving your Gown

Posted in Wedding dress at 2:15 PM by inspirationsbysd

I have always planned on preserving my wedding gown, even before selecting the gown I just knew I want to pass it on to my children or grandchildren. I asked a couple of people in Kuwait about bridal gown preservations I am not sure if there are any, I am dreading traveling back with my dress again and would much rather do it here in Kuwait, but I would also want a place that gives a 50 years warranty (I’d be 77 by that time, but never mind! :P ).

When I purchased my dress, the designer recommendedJ. Scheer & Co for preserving the gown. The company is based in NY and they take the same steps and use the same techniques that are used in museums that preserve important garments showcased there. They offer a 50 year warranty, and box it for you in a way that it would not damage the dress (hanging the dress for a long period would cause stress on the fabric, and covering it in plastic will yellow the fabric) but the good thing about their technique is that you can take out the dress from their box and reminisce without worrying about the gown catching air and ruining it. For now, I think this is the company I will use to have my gown preserved, unless someone recommends something else I am open for suggestions! :)
