Destination weddings

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:52 PM by inspirationsbysd

This post is for my dear friend M. :) she could not have a wedding when she got married (wear white and the whole shebang). And it got me thinking… it’s never too late! Renewing a couple’s vows has become a trend in the US with celebrities renewing their vows left and right (the latest being J.Lo and Marc Anthony AGAIN) and I was wondering if this trend will ever pick up in Kuwait also? lol I know it won’t be possible for religious reasons, but I mean to have a small party to celebrate their love, how far-fetched is that?

I think its great you get to live those moments again by having a small private ceremony on an island or a beachy resort somewhere! I love that idea, especially since it eliminates the drama that gets involved in planning a larger wedding in your hometown!

Think of it this way, you are with the only person you want to share those moments with and you get to do what YOU want as a couple and not get swayed by family members and all…aah such a lovely feeling. I really wish I can have a destination wedding, perhaps in Italy or by the beach somewhere. My friend M. described it best by picturing the white dress and a flower pinned to her hair. So here are some things to pack while planning a destination wedding or renewal of vows.

The LWD (Little White Dress):

Leave your cinderella ballroom gown behind, and pack those light airy white dresses fit for a destination wedding.

I love love this dress by Lanvin!!

I am madly in love with the above dress, too bad my size is out of stock :(

Shoes, Shoes, and more shoes!

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:59 PM by inspirationsbysd

The bridal shoe is an important part to complete the bridal look. Typically a bride needs to find the “right” shoe for her, right after she finds the dress, and before the first dress fitting. There are so many options for the traditional bridal shoe, and designers have been amping up the bridal shoe to satisfy the tastes of every bride.

In the US more brides are heading towards the non-traditional colors, and choosing shoes that complement their personalities as well as the dress. This means, you no longer necessarily have to stick to the traditional colors such as ivory, white, beige, and gold! Thanks to the adventurous brides, such as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City who wore the “something blue” pumps from Manolo Blahnik, I think its safe to choose a different color now. A favorite color, or a unique/daring style, I like the idea that it is hidden underneath the wedding gown and if it ever shows people will take a sneak peek at your wild sense of style.

Here is a collection of shoes from different designers:

And for the tall brides :)

Personalize it

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:26 PM by inspirationsbysd

Let’s face it, we all have a narcissistic side to us (or is it just me?) because I truly do get a kick out of personalizing things to have them look like myself or my loved ones! If you are throwing a bridal shower, baby shower or just want to send a “Thank you” note a neat way to do it would be through
Design-her Gals I love this website for its endless options in customizing your cards, mugs, aprons etc. and also for the Gal to Gal foundation supporting breast cancer, so seriously you can have fun personalizing your invitation and feel good for supporting their cause at the same time :)

To customize an invite, simply get started by going straight to the dressing room where you get to choose, the eyes, hair, skin tone and endless choices of clothes and accessories to make your gal look exactly like you! They even have pregnant gals and bridal gowns. Here is an example of my gal :)

Update: I found this pic of my personalized cards back when I used bake cupcakes for my friends :)

I do! (what now?)

Congratulations! You are getting married!! This is the time when the bride is taken through a whirlwind of emotions and the next big question that will always come up is “when is the big day?”  I personally was not even planning on having a wedding. I always thought they cost way too much, and it is true that businesses take advantage of the emotional bride who is ready to fork up the cash just to make sure her expectations of her “day” are met. I also felt that sometimes when planning a wedding, a bride focuses mainly on the wedding and misses the big picture which is the rest of her life with her future partner. I had so many cons on my list on having a wedding, until my sister told me one day I will regret not celebrating this one day in your life.

If you are anything like me, a bride who decided almost at the last-minute to plan a wedding. A small, but nonetheless, a wedding you do not need to fret, there is time. I managed to squeeze in a semester of graduate classes as well as planning this small intimate affair. But there are few things a bride needs to know, certain things need planning a head such as the dress!

Typically, looking for the dress I would advice that the bride starts searching right away. You will need at least 6 months to order a dress (if you are not buying off the rack). My personal favorite store in Kuwait is Pronovias, here are some designs that they carry

@ 360, although I did not purchase my wedding dress there, I did get my engagement dress from there and not only did they manage to alter the dress in time for my engagement party, they even sent me chocolates with a note from the staff congratulating me and my fiance. They really made me feel like a bride, and I loved it. You need to book an appointment to view their dresses, they carry many brands even Elie Saab! I am not quite sure about the price range, but I do know that there is a dress for every bride’s budget :)

Luv,

Sara D.
